Entries for all classes close at 12 noon on day before competition (Wednesday).

 

Times will be given for dressage classes on the website (stranraer-ridingclub.co.uk) on Wednesday evening prior to competition.

It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure they are wearing hats

(and body protectors, if worn) to the correct standard.

 

  • Riders may wear ordinary riding gear (dress down dressage), and there is no requirement to plait your horse/pony, unless you wish to plait. Riders must not wear hoodies, or any clothing with a hood.

 

  • Riders who wish to plait their horse/pony and abide by BRC dress guidelines will be entered for the new Trophy for best turned out, to be awarded at the AGM.

*  Let Loose – assistance (verbal) on course allowed.  Classes will be split Horses (seniors & juniors) / Ponies (juniors only).  Adults competing on ponies must enter Horse classes.  Juniors:  17 years of age or under.

 

Trophies will be presented to the winners in all classes.      Rosettes 1st – 6th.

RULES

  1. This competition is run in accordance with current British Riding Club rules. First Aid cover provided.
  2. The competition consists of showjumps on a cross country course, with no fixed fences. The closest to the optimum time round the course will win.  20 seconds will be added to the time for each knock down.  There will be no more than 12 jumping efforts in each class. 
  3. Excessive speed and/or dangerous riding will result in elimination. Competitors exceeding the time limit or who are eliminated at any jump may be allowed to complete the course at the fence judge’s discretion but must not impede the progress of following competitors.
  4. Competitors may enter up to two consecutive classes. Course to be walked on the day.
  5. Riders when mounted must wear a hard hat which meets the current standards set by BRC. Level 3 body protectors and medical armbands must be worn.  XC colours may be worn (no hoodies).
  6. It is the rider’s responsibility to make sure they comply with the current BRC rules for hats and body protectors. Information at:  https://www.bhs.org.uk/enjoy-riding/british-riding-clubs/brc-downloads
  7. Mobile Phones and watches with a stopwatch type function are not permitted on the course.
  8. Spurs not to be worn by junior members (unless approved for use by a qualified instructor / Pony Club DC).
  9. There will be a £10 refundable deposit charged for numbers ON COLLECTION.

COMPLAINT PROCEDURE:  Any complaint or objection relating to the event must be lodged in writing, including name and address of the sender, with the secretary and accompanied by a fee of £25 by 12 noon on the following day.  The correspondence will be considered by the office bearers and the decision notified in writing to the complainant within 7 days of receipt. 

HEALTH AND SAFETY:  The Organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all officials and stewards.

DISCLAIMER:  All vehicles are parked at owners’ risk.  The BRC / event organisers do not accept any liability for any accidents, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land or any other person or property whatsoever.

INSURANCE:  Please note:  non-members (of a British Riding Club) are not covered by the BRC insurance policy.  It is mandatory for anyone attending this event to have public liability (3rd party) insurance.  Any non-members attending must bring proof of their own public liability insurance.

PHOTOGRAPHS:  Official photographs and video will be taken at this event and may be published on websites, social media or in other publications.  If you do not want your image(s) to be used, please inform the event secretary in advance of the event.

You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events.  Results may include (but not be limited to) name, town, any club affiliation, times and age category.

All dogs to be kept on a short lead at all times.  Scoop the poop!

Charity Show Jumping – 1st September 2024

There will NOT be any catering at the event.

Trophies presented to winners in each class, along with a prize kindly donated by Tarff Valley Ltd.

Proceeds will be shared between Stranraer & District Cats Protection branch and S&DRC.

A mains water tap is located opposite the gate near portaloo, in the parking area.

NO entries will be accepted on the day.  Pre- entries only.  Anyone already entered wishing to enter another class, or do a round HC, will be accommodated, as far as possible.

Castle Kennedy Charity Show

Sunday 18th August 2024 – In memory of Dr John Calvert

Thank you to everyone who took part in today’s Charity Show at Castlefields, sponsored by Carr’s Billington Country Store Stranraer.  The weather was lovely and there was a good turnout.

The Show raised £700 to donate to Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.

Thank you to everyone who entered and to our judges, Lindsey Birch, Sue Mattison and Kara Torrance, along with stewards Ellie Flynn, Mhairi Ross, Jill Gilchrist, Sheena Townley-Malyon, Chloe Hunter, Louise Gallacher, Sally Baxter and Matthew Burrett, who all helped to make the day run smoothly.

Thank you to Pic A Picnic for delicious catering and to Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes for bringing along their bikes and stand.

The next event will be flatwork training on 29th August with Lynda Jones-Todd followed by the Charity Show Jumping on 1st September 2024 with trophies to be awarded in all classes.
