Castle Kennedy Charity Show

Saturday 19th July 2025 – In memory of Dr John Calvert

Thank you to everyone who took part in today’s Charity Show at Castlefields.  The weather was dry and calm and although entries were lower than usual, quality remained high.

The Show raised £300 to donate to YMCA Stranraer.

Thank you to everyone who entered and to our judges, Gill McGlashan and Sheila Thom, along with stewards Chloe Hunter, Emily Galloway, Joyce Lafferty, Kirsty Scroggie and John Bunnett, who all helped to make the day run smoothly.

Castle Kennedy Charity Show

Castle Kennedy Charity Show – Saturday 19th July 2025 – In aid of YMCA Stranraer.

Gates will be open from 9.30 am – please do not arrive before this time to avoid having to wait on the A75.

Numbers will be available for collection from 10 am.  Catering by Pic a Picnic.

Mains water taps are located opposite the gate near portaloo, in the parking area.

There will also be some tack car boot stalls.

Entries on the day available – cash only (£12 members and £15 non-members).

The Warm Up Area is in the big fieldFor the safety of all, the collecting area (in front of ring entrances) is for waiting to go into rings only. 

Any classes being judged at the same time will have rosettes awarded as per class entered.

1st prize winners from each ring will go forward for the judging of the championship in that ring. 

The Supreme Championship will be judged from the Champion and Reserve from each ring.

Dress code as per British Riding Club rules.  At Club Show Jumping competitions Smart Riding / Show Jackets or Tweed Jackets are permitted, along with S&DRC sweatshirt or jacket.  BS (British Showjumping) jackets and hoodies are not permitted.

Spurs not to be worn by Junior members unless the Club’s pro forma is completed by a qualified instructor, accredited coach or Pony Club DC and submitted to the Secretary.

Summer Points League will again run this year, over all show jumping dates – including Combined Training competitions.  Points League Trophies will be presented for each individual show jumping class at the Club’s Annual General Meeting at the end of the season.

Working Hunter and Showing Clinic on Sunday 1st June 2025

Get ready for the upcoming show season.  Clinic open to all.

Book a place on the Working Hunter and Showing Clinic with the very successful Lilian Cloy.

Lilian will offer advice on turnout, which classes are suitable for you and your horse/pony as well as ringcraft.  There will be tips and information on the go round, what the judge is looking for and the individual show along with the opportunity to jump a Working Hunter course of jumps.  Showing only sessions also available (no jumping).  Heights from X poles to 90 cm.

Lilian has competed and won at the Horse of the Year Show, Royal International Horse Show, the Royal Highland Show and Great Yorkshire show to name a few.  Lilian has extensive experience in showing from Show Hunter Ponies, Working Hunter (ponies and horses) and Hunters.

You can come wearing your showing outfit, plaited or unplaited, or dress in ordinary riding gear, depending on the feedback you are seeking.

One hour group sessions – up to four riders.

Times will be between 10 am and 3 pm (approximately).  Please advise if there is a particular time you wish and we will try to accommodate (although this cannot be guaranteed).

Bookings must be made no later than 12 noon on Thursday 29th May.

Payment must be made by 31st May – details will be provided at time of booking.

Please note that if you cancel a booking after 12 noon on Thursday 29th May and it is not possible to fill the space the full fee will still be payable.

 

All attendees must hold public liability insurance (full members of an affiliated Riding Club, Pony Club, BHS Gold member, etc).
